“In this body of work I wish to visually explore the various aspects of loss that occur due to dementia.
I begin with a list of words that I associate with the condition and which are reflected within the individual pieces.
Thoughts:
worn out
faded
broken
foggy
fractured
shredded
loss
disintegration
bleed
lucid moments”

The She and He of It shows the space in between two. As a piece it demonstrates the communication gap between female and male counterparts even though they possess similar qualities in colour, shape and technique. Through mirror imagery, stitching and colour appliqué , The She and He of It creates a visual of the void, or space between, two lovers.

In New Life, we see the story of an orchid struggling to begin again. Through the use of stitching, contrasting colour and layered materials, we see the effort to propagate. Orchids that are required to exist in new conditions within their life cycle struggle. Through each stage of their growth there is a stop gap, a space between, where they are made dormant; waiting on a new life to begin.
